New PanelPatch fills a gap in the market

Dandy Pre-Cast Concrete was first given a demonstration of the product by a Unitex representative. The company was impressed and picked up a couple of bags of Panel Patch for a trial run. They have been using the product ever since.

According to Dandy Pre-Cast Concrete’s full time patcher, Jeff Loughhead, Panel Patch is “very handy” and he uses it all the time. Jeff has found that Panel Patch is great for filling the gaps caused during construction. It fills the many prop holes and bolt holes that remain after temporary supports or props are removed from the face and base of the factory-formed concrete, once it is tilted into place. The patches are then easy to finish with a trowel. While some builders use plastic plugs, for Jeff the Panel Patch “looks 100% better”. The Unitex product not only offers a nice surface, but it saves time too as no glue is required.

As concrete buildings are welded together using steel plates, which can be prone to melting, fire-proofing is also an issue. With Panel Patch over the top of the construction, it can withstand fire for up to four hours before disintegration.
