Unitex renders the right solution for Mirvac

When you need to apply render to over 220 apartments with five work-faces, material handling and efficiency is paramount. Having a render that is both lightweight and flexible enough to be sprayed on is a huge help as well. This is where Unitex Unitex Hi Lite Render™ really performs and is a key reason why it was specified for the Amarco Apartments – the latest release from Mirvac of prestige apartments at Rhodes Waterside.

On this project the Unitex Hi Lite Render was applied quickly and precisely with spray machines by a small army of applicators lead by Allan Basic from City Rendering. Using the spray machines cut down application time, saving labour and money.

Unitex Hi Lite Render is a cement-based polymer modified, high performance, masonry render system. The render is applied directly to sound masonry surfaces, either sprayed or by trowel and rubbed up to a true and even surface. It is water resistant and promotes adhesion to the substrate. Unitex Hi Lite Render is workable at thicknesses from 6 mm up to 15 mm. Thirty millimeters can be achieved with successive coats of 15 mm build up.

Project Manager, Glenn House, claims that Unitex Unitex Hi Lite Render has superior materials handling when compared to conventional render. "It is quicker in application, cleaner, has less waste and is more flexible in its composition," Glenn said, "which is important when you are applying huge quantities every week".

The Amarco Apartments by Mirvac is one of the largest commercial projects in recent times for Unitex. The system involved the application of Unitex Hi Lite Render, Uni-Dry Coat (855) Medium Finish and was finished with three coats of Uni-PTC protective top coat. The scale of this project required constant technical support, supervision and follow-up from John Da Silva, Unitex Technical Sales Consultant "This is one of the biggest projects we have done recently, so I wanted to make sure it went smoothly," John said. "I was there regularly to brief the tradesmen, inspect the substrate, inspect moisture levels and co-ordinate on-time delivery."

Rhodes Waterside promises 'architectural brilliance, a wonderful lifestyle and ultimate convenience.' The combination of quality project management, superior materials, good on-site technical support and a great team of tradesmen have resulted in the ultimate finish for this prestigious project.
